a trip to the Singapore river

Josh Amos(32),Clara(7),Stephanie(19)

After a long-25 mintues bus ride , we reached our destination , the Singapore River .We walked through a magnificent bridge called Elgin bridge. This bridge was named after Lord Elgin, the governer-general of India. Its a very nice place to have a nice view of the the Singapore skyline and take beautiful photos from there.Across the bridge, we'll see rows of shop houses along the river banks.

This mark the starting point of Boat Quay, there were a number of interesting restaurants, bars and pubs, that were located nicely.Even though this place is not very special, it is still always filled with people around. There are people walking, talking, having a gathering with their friends, having business meetings, and just relaxing.personally, i would go there too relax and watch the nice sunset they have there to!:)

Another sculpture The River Merchants was located near the Cavenagh Bridge. It looks like merchants were negotiating a deal where the coolies were busy loading goods onto a bullock cart.
Having a thought to myself as the wheather was scorching hot. It must be hot , standing under the burning sun to do all these tough work and yet still not complain .Its really fascinating indeed to see how hardworking they were how hardworking they were and how devoted they were to their work.

While i was approaching the UOB plaza, at the corner of my eye, i caught something very enthralling. It was a bird like structure.I know it's a very nice sculpture, but what in the heavens was it doing there?? so i decided to check its history, and i got this, the bird like sculpture, symbolises the joy of living which was created by south american sculptor,Fernando Botero. Its seriously a very unique sculpture.

The following information board , that we saw was one of the few that were erected by the riverside. It provided you with a quick overview of a particular event. The last sculpture First Generation showing five boys jumping happily into the river, a common scene in the old days.i thought that it might be fun to do that , giggling inside.
Learn Boat Quay history from the information board

There are two spots which are very ideal to take a complete view of the Singapore River, one is in front of the UOB Plaza and the other near the Cavenagh bridge.
Boat Quay, Singapore popular nightlife spot A complete view of Singapore River
We didnt walk much though , but it was a fun trip .
